This month we move from the dark, mysterious past into the juicy vibrant now. While the root chakra represents where we came from, the sacral chakra symbolizes the powerful energy that makes life possible. You were created in the sacral chakra of your mother’s body, and it was sexual energy that brought you into form. That’s how fundamental this chakra is to our existence. Nothing makes us feel more alive than sexual energy when it is pure and unencumbered by societal conditioning and past experiences. We will be learning how to harness that very same energy of creation to call in what we desire in our lives.

In the Conception blog on turn on, I quoted Napoleon Hill who wrote about the manifestation power of sexual energy back in the 1930s in his book, Think and Grow Rich. Yet most of us have never considered the power that this energy can bring into our everyday life. Sure, chances are you have experienced the pleasure of sex, and some of you might even have created a baby. But I’ll be sharing how you can use this magical energy to transform your life.

Before we get to the creation tool, though, we will explore how to clear low-vibration energy from our womb space, an area where many of us hold traumatic memories, experiences and fears. While our release technique, the yoni egg, might be new to you, it’s actually been used for thousands of years in Asia and elsewhere. This month, you will learn what it is and how to use it to absorb negative energy.

Let’s be clear that you do not need an actual womb to channel this powerful creative force into your life. The sacral chakra can glow brightly and spin freely whether you have an actual womb or not. And the good news is that it has no expiration date. Whether you are 18 or 80, you have the capacity to tap into sexual energy through your female body. The portal is your yoni and its 8000 nerve endings, twice as many as a penis. While life experiences may have caused you to shut down this pleasure center, or perhaps never tap into it at all, I will be inviting you to release any blocks from the past and awaken an energy that is your birthright.

Sadly, the sacral chakra is an area where social conditioning and experiences are likely to have their strongest influence. That’s why we cannot even begin to discover what’s possible until we clear out the significant energetic baggage that we are carrying. In fact, this may be among the most challenging months of the entire journey because it might touch the deepest recesses of your soul.

There’s also a sense of shame or taboo that can come with even thinking about this topic, much less talking about it and then acting on it. I ask you to trust me, remembering that I too had to release the shackles of my upbringing, and so much more in order to take this journey. I promise that if I can fully embrace my sacred sexuality, you can too. Yes, I said sacred, which not surprisingly is connected to the “sacral” name given to this chakra.

Let’s begin by learning more about the chakra that serves as the foundation for this month of the Rebirth Journey. The Sanskrit word for this chakra is Svadhisthana, and it speaks to the deliciousness of what you are about to experience. My favorite translation of the word comes from Cris Christensen in her book Chakra Rituals: Awakening the Wild Woman Within. Sva means self and svadha is another word for sweetness. Adhisthana represents the area where your being is established. You can think of the sacral chakra as your sweet abode.

The symbol for this chakra is a six-petal orange lotus flower with a perfect circle in its center. Inside the top of the circle is a crescent moon. As we will explore more deeply later, the moon represents the very embodiment of the feminine essence so it’s no wonder this is the symbol associated with our womb space. Below the crescent moon, is a Sanskrit symbol that represents the sound associated with this chakra – VAM.

Just as with the other chakras, you can begin activating your sacral chakra by meditating while gazing at this symbol and repeating the sound associated with it. VAM. Supercharge the energy by holding a carnelian gemstone in your hand or wearing the color orange. We will discover other ways to activate this chakra in the blog posts that follow.
